Founded in 2016 by filmmaker Florenc Papas, Tunnelfilm began with a mission to produce powerful short films and quickly expanded into feature filmmaking. Our journey includes producing shorts like We Have the Sun by Petrit Ruka, Gilgameshi by Shaqir Veseli, and Arberesh by Fabian Kati, alongside co-producing feature films such as Stork by Isa Qosja, Bearhug by Ilirjan Himaj, and Jerem by Ismet Sijarina. Most recently, we produced Consequences of Freedom by Lorin Terezi and are developing the upcoming Bloody Hortensias by Kelmend Karuni.
Tunnelfilm offers full-cycle production services, from developing short and feature films to preparing funding applications, packaging projects, and connecting films with sales and distribution opportunities. We also provide production services for international filmmakers looking to shoot in Albania, offering location scouting, local crew, and logistical support. Notable projects include facilitating the Egyptian hit series The Vulture. Beyond production, we collaborate with Tirana International Film Festival to organize TourIsMovie, an annual open-air cinema tour bringing films to children across Albania.
At Tunnelfilm, we are committed to empowering emerging Albanian filmmakers, especially those creating their first or second films. We champion emotionally resonant stories that explore the human condition, politics, and social change—stories rooted locally but speaking to the world. By bridging Albanian voices with international audiences, we aim to nurture a cinema that is both deeply personal and universally impactful.
